  • On May 2 – 3, 2019, Mary Ann R. Burmester will attend the annual Family Law Retreat in Pagosa Springs, CO, and present on Ethical & Evidentiary Considerations of Audio & Video-Taping. This is 23nd consecutive year she has participated in this exclusive conference for women family law attorneys.

  • As President of the Mountain States Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML), Mary Ann R. Burmester will chair the annual meeting in Jackson Hole, WY the weekend of June 13 – 16, 2019. The Chapter consists of AAML Fellows from New Mexico, Utah, Montana, Idaho, and Wyoming. She’s very pleased that AAML National President, Peter Walzer, will attend the conference and provide the continuing legal education ethics presentation. For more information about AAML, see

  • The family court holds “Resolution Days” on one Wednesday every month. Mary Ann R. Burmester and Tamara L. Hoffstatter both volunteer to serve as mediators to help couples negotiate a settlement of their outstanding disputes. The judges refer families with pending motions to the program. If you wish to participate, contact your judge’s secretary.

  • The family court in Albuquerque is holding its annual Peter H. Johnstone Day on Friday, April 12, 2019, to help couples who don’t have lawyers resolve their pending divorce, custody and child support cases with the assistance of volunteer attorneys to serve as mediators. You need to be referred to the program by the judge presiding over your case. Tamara L. Hoffstatter will be volunteering this year.
